Repair and Maintenance

The Wayne County Airport has completed arrangements to resume aircraft maintenance and repair at KBJJ.  This service was terminated in October 2008.

Aircraft Sales, Incorporated has established full service capability effective July 15, 2010 for piston powered aircraft.  A.S.I. is located in the main terminal/hanger at the airport with three certified I A’s and one certified A & P available for a variety of work on both single and twin engine planes.  This team can provide:

Airframe and power plant repair

Normal scheduled maintenance

Annuals

100 hour inspections

Oil changes

Gear and tire requirements

Electrical installs

Interior replacement and repair

This service is a natural fit with A.S.I.’s main ongoing business of complete aircraft restoration in the same facility.

Service can be scheduled and quotations can be obtained from A.S.I. at (330) 669 0000.  Airport Manager, Jim Cranston, can also answer any questions related to this new service at the Wayne County Airport.  Cranston points out that this repair and maintenance capability is far more extensive than that offered by almost any other county airport in Ohio.

Runway Lighting

Significant progress has been made in completing the replacement of the runway lighting system as directed by the Wayne County Airport Authority.  Design work has been finished by Delta Engineering, the technical consultant for the Authority, after review and approval of the FAA office in Detroit.  Construction bids will soon be solicited and this major upgrade to KBJJ facilities will probably be completed in six months.  Brian Studer, President of the Airport Authority, emphasizes the importance of this upgrade for business flying in Wayne County.

Jet Aircraft Basing

Mid-Ohio Aviation has revealed an arrangement to domicile a third Cessna twin jet in their facility north of the main runway.  These, coupled with the four jets housed in south side hangers, gives a total of seven pure jet aircraft based at the Wayne County Airport.  This is substantially more than previously and represents a large boost to commercial aviation in the Wooster area
